The Roman Roads of East Anglia – Lidar Discoveries

A free to attend talk by Dr David Ratledge on recent historic Lidar discoveries in East Anglia

2pm, Saturday 14th October 2023
Davies Memorial Hall, The Street, Herringswell,
Suffolk IP28 6ST

The past ten years have seen a transformation in our understanding of Britain’s Roman road network, as a consequence of Lidar data becoming freely available.
Dr Ratledge has uncovered forgotten Roman buildings, roads and villas all over the country, along with one of the western courses of the Icknield Way. His discoveries are informative and fascinating, and are certain to be of particular interest to those who wish to learn more about the long-forgotten and missing history of East Anglia.

  • Refreshments will be provided
  • The Icknield Way Guidebook will be available for sale without postage costs
  • The talk and refreshments will be followed by the formal AGM (no obligation to stay following talk & refreshments)
  • In the morning, there will be a guided walk for members
